Do you remember when the dogs jumped through the window in Resident Evil? If you were like most gamers, you probably freaked out and cried internally... or externally. Video games can be scary

well the scariest experience was when i was playing haunted... on a stream... talking away to a friend on mine... still concentrating on the game... and searching for batteries... i found some... was extremly happy about it... looked up in the game... saw this ghost that scared the living heck out of me... i jumped back on my chair... then my friend was behind me and double scared me D: i nearly had a heart attack but atleast it was funny as heck :D

If you're fully immersing yourself, I'll give the nod to Amnesia. The sense of dread was incredibly intense… I couldn't play for more than an hour at a time. Dead Space is second place for me, same kind of feelings but you stood a little bit of a chance thanks to your engineering tools. The deaths were pretty specular and gruesome too!

playing FEAR 2 in the beginning when I was at that penthouse or whatever and I was by the pool. Things started getting weird and I was looking at the pool water and the windows with the skyline. All of a sudden I turned around and Alma was right there looking at me. I literally yelped in real life and in the game moved backwards and fell into the pool which triggered an event.

It was like the designers created this moment knowing exactly what players would do.

I only played the demo of Siren but I can honestly say that is by far one of the scariest games I've played - it might even be up there as THE scariest.

Dead Space 1 walking into the room filled with dead cult members who had plastic bags over their heads. So scary, sick, and wrong! it gave me raging shakes.

The first game I ever remember that really scared me was Splatter House 3 on Sega Genesis. I remember playing 1 or 2 levels and not going back to it until 2 or 3 years later. If I played it, it would always be with someone else in the room. The story really took me in.
