WoW Tokens Live on US Servers

Blizzard has rolled out the World of Warcraft Tokens in the Americas region, or servers for North and South America, Australia and New Zealand. The tokens can be acquired from the in-game store for $20 a piece. Initially, the Tokens are being sold for 30 000 gold on the specialized token auction house, but the price will adjust itself over time depending on supply and demand. Each token can be redeemed for 30 days of game time.

The WoW Token system is designed similarly to EVE Online's PLEX: in theory, it should allow players that can afford to spend more money on WoW to buy tokens using real money and sell them off for gold in the auction house to players that have extra gold in-game. They can then exchange them for game time, effectively buying game time using gold.
